Pacifica highlight

Coastal community with strong beach

Pacifica's Pacific coastline spans Rockaway Beach, one of the cleanest beaches in the San Francisco Bay Area, and Mori Point's 110-acre coastal park with hiking trails and restored wetlands.

Rockaway Beach, seven miles south of San Francisco, sits in a gently curving embayment along Highway 1 with steep coastal bluffs as high as 60 percent grade. The neighborhood, redeveloped in 1986, now features a cluster of restaurants and shops, notably Nick's Seafood Restaurant, a Pacifica landmark. Over decades, the beach has experienced seasonal cycles of winter erosion and summer sand rebuilding, yet maintains its status as one of the cleanest beaches in the Bay Area region.

North of Rockaway, Mori Point extends into the Pacific Ocean as a prominent 110-acre bluff managed by the National Park Service. The site offers hiking trails connecting ridgelines to beach access, including the popular "Bootlegger's Steps" route to the bluff top, with spring wildflower displays across restored northern coastal scrub and prairie habitats. Restoration completed by 2005 transformed degraded land into an ecological refuge, creating new wetlands that support threatened California red-legged frogs and endangered San Francisco garter snakes.

For Pacifica families, these beaches and trails are part of daily life—school field trips, weekend hikes, sunset walks with friends and family. Life insurance planning fits naturally into that picture: protecting the people who share those traditions with a term policy sized to a mortgage, children's education, and the years when a household depends on one income.
