Pacifica highlight
Proximity to San Francisco
Pacifica sits seven miles south of San Francisco, with views toward the city and overlooks both San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean from Sweeney Ridge's 1,200-foot summit.

Sweeney Ridge, a 1,200-acre hiking area between San Bruno and Pacifica, rises to a 1,200-foot summit with ridges and ravines offering some of the finest views on the San Francisco Peninsula. From the ridge, hikers see both San Francisco Bay to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west, framing the geography that defines Pacifica's location. The ridge holds deep historical significance: on November 4, 1769, members of the Portolá expedition first spotted San Francisco Bay from this vantage point, marking an early moment of European encounter with the Bay Area landscape.
Today, Sweeney Ridge is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and hosts multiple hiking trails including the Sweeney Ridge Trail from Skyline College and the Mori Ridge Trail from the Pacifica side. The area showcases Northern coastal scrub habitat with native vegetation and is recognized as one of the best Bay Area lookouts for spring northbound raptor migration, studied by the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory. Wildlife including hawks, deer, coyotes, and cougars roam the preserved landscape.
Pacifica's proximity to San Francisco, while only seven miles away, gives the city its own distinct character—coastal, outdoor-focused, and connected to a broader Bay Area community. For households in Pacifica, whether commuting to San Francisco or staying close to home, life insurance planning reflects that regional reality: the coverage needed to protect a family when one person's income is no longer there, whether that income comes from the Peninsula or from across the Bay.
